Auditory acuity is one of the most important skills we can teach to children—and adults. Being a good listener is key to becoming a successful problem solver, communicator, citizen, professional and friend. Storytelling provides an excellent model of oral language and is an exciting and entertaining venue for the development of auditory skills, interpersonal communication, and appreciation of the spoken word.

To hear Mr. Weiss tell a story is to become enthralled in the tale, and it is no wonder that young children leave the storyteller's circle determined to recreate the drama in their own creative play.  His stories encourage children to read original classical literature, either on their own or with the help of the more experienced readers in their lives.

Join us for one or more of the following FREE special performances that will captivate children and adults with exhilarating tales and original stories and re-tellings from classical literature and history:

Grammar School Session 1: “Famously Funny: Most Beloved Stories and Poems”
Covenant Grades K-2 and Guests ages 5 and older
Time: 9:15 a.m. (30-45 minutes)
Jim tells some of the most humorous stories and poems that were ever written. These classic stories of adventure and imagination portray a wide array of ethics and values that are ever pertinent to life yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Grammar School Session 2: “Fascinating Stories of Great People and Greek Mythology”
Covenant Grades 3-6 and Guests ages 8 and older
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Come and enjoy award-winning recording artist and extraordinary storyteller as he captivates his audience with his renditions of Greek Myths, fascinating people and important historic events.

Parents’ Brown Bag Lunch Session: “Virtues and Values”
Covenant Academy Parents, Guests and Friends
Time: 12:00 p.m. (45 minutes)
How do we teach wisdom and virtue in a world full of appalling examples? How do we give our children a moral compass in today’s culture? Jim Weiss explores this prominent driving issue for all conscientious parents. Using rich literary models and historical leaders, Jim will show how to contrast good and evil; right from wrong, and navigate a path toward a rich and healthy lifestyle.

Ethics and the Founding Fathers Can Politics be Honorable?”
Our Founding Fathers all had flaws and they often disagreed yet they learned to trust each another enough to birth a nation. Through great story telling Jim Weiss will make history come alive in a way that young adults will never forget.

“Mystery and Intrigue with Sherlock Holmes”
Sherlock Holmes is amidst the greatest literary characters of all time. Jim captivates his audience with stories about the brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion, Doctor Watson.
